Inter-Generational Housing Prototype:
Integrating Refugee & Graduate Student Families

Recent global refugee crises have revealed a need for effective, integrative housing for new arrivals. The average Syrian refugee family is multi-generational in nature - with an average size of 7 people, with 3 children under the age of 18 on average.

These populations need flexible housing, affordable food, and childcare in tolerant neighborhoods.
Graduate students - another transient community - and especially those with families, require similar amenities, and can provide the tolerant immersion & services that refugees require.

Completed as a midterm project for an inter-generational housing studio, RISD IntAR. This study prototype will be applied to an adaptive reuse project in Boston, MA.
